About ACEN
A Pan-African movement for craft entrepreneurs
Africa Craft Entrepreneurs Network (ACEN) is dedicated to empowering artisans, skilled professionals, and craft entrepreneurs across Africa.
History & Background
Why ACEN was established
ACEN was established to address the growing need for a strong, united platform that empowers artisans, skilled professionals, and craft entrepreneurs across Africa. The idea emerged from the recognition that millions of artisans possess valuable technical skills but often face challenges such as limited access to business opportunities, inadequate entrepreneurial and digital skills, lack of professional representation, poor market access, and limited financial support.
Despite the important role of artisans and craft entrepreneurs in economic development, job creation, and industrial growth, the sector continues to receive limited support and recognition in many African countries. ACEN was therefore created to bridge the gap between technical skills, entrepreneurship and strategy, digital innovation, and sustainable business development.
Today, ACEN continues to position itself as a growing Pan-African movement dedicated to empowering craft entrepreneurs, promoting enterprise development, and becoming a strong voice for artisans and skilled professionals across the continent.
